Poll Everywhere

Introduction

Poll Everywhere is a quick way to get audience real-time responses via mobile devices, the Internet and Twitter.

Things You'll Need
  • A valid email address.

  • An Internet connection.

  • The audience will require a way to electronically answer the poll (laptop, mobile device, etc.).

Steps

    Go to Poll Everywhere. Click on the 'Sign up' button for a free account.

    Fill out the free plan sign up form. You are now ready to create your first poll by clikcing on 'Create your first poll'.

    Select one of the poll response formats

    1. Open ended - the audience can answer in an open ended format. There are multiple formats to display audience responses (text wall, ticker, cluster and word cloud).

       
    2. Multiple choice - the creator specifies the answer choices given in the poll. Note that the multiple choice format defaults to True and False. If you don't want to use True and False, simply click in the text box space and type in the text answer.

       
    3. Cickable image - add an image as a multiple choice option. You can, either, click on the camera icon and upload the files, you can drag and drop the image directly OR you can paste an online link.

    When you are finished typing in a poll question and choosing the audience response format, click 'Create'.

    If you would like to edit or delete your poll, hover over the question and click edit or delete.

    In order for you poll to be active you must set up a start time. If you do not start your poll, respondents will not be able to answer.

    You can decide how many times an invidiual can answer a question.

    Decide how the audience can repond from a variety of choices.

Tips
  • A poll refers to a single question; you can add multiple questions to create a longer poll.

  • With the free plan, you have a maximum respondent number of 40, to have more than 40 students respond you must upgrade to a paid plan.

  • The poll does not need to be displayed to receive votes but does need to be started before polling begins.

  • For mixed US/Canadian audiences, if 37607 isn't working for everyone, the backup number is (747) 444-3548.

Warnings
  • If you do not create a free account your poll will be removed after two weeks, along with all collected data
