Symbaloo

Introduction

Similar to Pinterest, Symbaloo is a bookmarking service, allowing users to create webmixes of bookmarks to websites and web hosted content such as images or videos.

Why to use it:

  • Allows for colour coding of items within a webmix
  • Easily embeds into a website
  • Structured and professional looking
Things You'll Need
  • A computer or device with a working internet connection

Steps
  1. 1

    Go to Symbaloo and click the “Create free account” button at the top right.

    Either set up a new account, or log in using Facebook or Google.

    To create a new webmix, click the plus sign near the top left. A dialogue will pop up asking you to name your webmix, or you can search to see if a webmix like that already exists. 

    Add a webmix (A webix is a compilation of tiles. Here you can search for a webmix or create your own.)

    If creating a new webmix, you’ll now be presented with a blank webmix with Google search in the center. To add a tile, click any of the blank tiles and “Edit Tile” will appear on the left, allowing you to create a new tile or see what tiles already exist.

    When you’re ready to share your webmix with others, click the share button at the top center. Here you can set your webmix to be public or private, add tag words to it, share via social media or email, and snag an embed code.

Tips
  • From the options button at the top of your webmix you can change its name, the size of the webmix, and specifically mark off areas.
